July was a long month of hurry up and wait. The 7-10 days the city claimed for the permit process took 3 weeks and then the water company said they had no records of us. Add another week for them to come around for a two minute walk through..."Yep, looks like everythings the way it should be." I've learned to keep my mouth shut...don't want to piss off certain people.
Now...on August 14th...an army of people arrived with big trucks and wheelbarrows and instruments of destruction. This is the kitchen i remember...small, cozy and barely room enough for one cook and everyone else get the hell out. When i got home from work yesterday...well, things had changed. It was interesting to note the asbestos pipe that had been hidden behind the refrigerator for years. What is behind your walls isn't real pretty. Kind of like with people. All that smooth, beautiful skin hides some really gross stuff. I'm starting to think of this remodel like a complicated surgery involving total organ replacement and then some intensive skin grafts. Ewwwwwww....
Interesting to see what tomorrow brings. Other than a 10 mile run to clear my head.
